Revolution
acrylic on cut panel painting installation
2018

Beans are beautiful objects painted by the earth, each one different from the next, even within the same species.
Painting these on cut panels allows me to get lost in abstract marks while still creating something representational.
I think of them as stand-ins for people, and installed them in a circle representing the rotating earth, people gathering, or the cycle of life that we’re all taking part in.
Capitalism gives us a linear perspective of the world, but if we think cyclically, we acknowledge that there are not beginnings or ends, but rather, we live in a continuous motion--a revolution.
