I work to unlearn colonial aesthetics and ask what it means to decolonize or reindigenize art and art history; on what it means to be who I am right now and to be making work in the lineage of my ancestors and the history of art. Reaching is a large scale corn husk collage about longing and reaching towards ancestral knowledge, which is represented by the cosmos or the moon or the sun. It may even speak to the fact that we are all reaching for something. The husks below are altered with synthetic fabric dye, while the moon retains the natural husk color.
